And just like there’s no single authority on how many, there isn’t a single place to see all of them. As much as the completist parts of us wanted to build that, there’s a max to how many books a human can actually look at (and how many books a server database can handle). We know – we’ve been looking at books for years! As the staff, writers, and podcasters of Book Riot, we spend hours each week looking at what’s coming out, be it next week or next year.
The New Release Index gives you the opportunity to take advantage of our expertise! It’s our way to give anyone and everyone a single place to keep track of exciting and interesting new releases coming out each week. Our curators scour publisher catalogs and book announcements, Edelweiss and NetGalley and beyond, to bring you the ones we think should be on your radar.
Our mission is to surprise and delight readers, amplify voices from marginalized and underrepresented communities, and challenge ourselves and our community to be inclusive. We try to include a little something for everyone, and you can filter the list by your favorite genre, be it memoirs or comics or romance or kids books or whatever! You can also hop around from one month to the next.
Particularly excited about a certain book, and don’t want to forget about it but not ready to pre-order? Subscribers can add it to their Watchlist! Curious what our curators are particularly loving? The New Release Index is not meant to be comprehensive; hundreds of books are published every day. Instead, our professional book nerds curate the ones that we think are interesting, exciting, and represent the diversity of the book world, and do our best to put together a wide range. There are bound to be others that don’t make it to the Index; we hope you’ll enjoy learning about the ones that are there!
How do I get my book included?
Our curators scour publisher catalogs, Edelweiss, NetGalley, and other publication resources, so making sure it’s showing up in those places is a good place to start. We are not currently accepting pitches or addition requests for the New Release Index, but thanks for checking in!
